SA wine industry relieved by excise dispensation

The South African wine industry is relieved and extremely thankful for the deferral of the payment of excise taxes on alcoholic beverages as announced yesterday in a media statement by the National Treasury relating to further tax measures to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Disaster Management Act and the national lockdown from midnight on 26 March 2020 to midnight on 16 April 2020, the export, sale, dispensing or transportation of alcoholic beverages are prohibited, with no exceptions.
