Bon Cap Wines
New additions to the Bon Cap portfolio include one of the first organic Rosé wines (made from Pinotage grapes) and the first organic Port (Touriga National) in South Africa.
Also launched is a conventional range that include The Ruins Sauvignon Blanc and a The Ruins Chardonnay/Viognier. The conventional wines are from leased vineyards in Tradouw and from sites near Robertson. Why launch a non–organic range if Bon Cap is known for its high quality organic wines? After receiving more and more enquiries about white wines, Roelf took the step to source high quality white grapes from vineyards other than our own. With a little viticultural intervention and planning, Jacques bottled the first wines this year and shortly thereafter the first shipments left for the UK. The Bon Cap range is only made from organically certified grapes from our family farm, and all these wines have been barrel matured. The Ruins range will consist of both conventional- and organic wines and this is our lifestyle range. We launched the new wines during the Wacky Wine Weekend in Robertson (3-5 June 2005) and the feedback was phenomenal. Our third vintage of the limited release Bon Cap Organic Viognier has also just been launched. This Condrieau style Viognier is only exported to Sweden, UK and locally exclusive to cellar door sales.
