Murray making the money from wine

The Clare Valley may have the names but the Murray Valley is making the money when it comes to wine.

A new report by the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics (ABARE) has found grape growers and wine producers from the Mildura and Swan Hill area of Victoria doing much better than their South Australian counterparts.

ABARE found Murray Valley grape growers averaged $10,600 in cash receipts per hectare, while those in the Clare Valley averaged $7,300 a hectare.
