Following the success of the 2003 inaugural Cape Town event, RMB WineX, South Africa's premier wine festival, will take place for the second time in Cape Town from Wednesday, 8th to Friday, 10th September 2004 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

Following the success of the 2003 inaugural Cape Town event, RMB WineX, South Africa's premier wine festival, will take place for the second time in Cape Town from Wednesday, 8th to Friday, 10th September 2004 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

RMB WineX, sponsored by Rand Merchant Bank, offers a comprehensive showcase of over 1 200 wines per night from more than 250 of the country's top wineries. Other WineX partners include Makro, SA's largest wine retailer, British Airways Comair and Primedia, in the form of 567 CapeTalk and 702 Talk Radio in Gauteng.

RMB WineX Johannesburg, now in its fifth consecutive year, will once again be staged at the Sandton Convention Centre, from the 26th to 29th October. An extra day has been added this year, to accommodate increasing crowds that attend the Johannesburg event.

The list of exhibitors for RMB WineX 2004 reads like the South African wine industry A-list: Cederberg, Fairview, Mulderbosch, Rust en Vrede, Rustenberg, Spice Route, Springfield and Vergelegen are amongst the array of prestigious wineries whose winemakers will be there to meet WineX-goers in person.

RMB WineX 2004 has had a great response from the wine industry. Both Cape Town and Johannesburg were fully booked by May this year, with 250 and 280 exhibitors respectively. RMB WineX will also showcase a number of wine organisations and wine routes such as the Cape Winemakers Guild, Bottelary Hills, Simonsberg and Robertson Wine Valley, to further familiarise RMB WineX guests with the extensive marketing presence of wine producers. A selection of cheeses will be available for show and home consumption, and the anticipated 3 000 visitors per night will be able to view exclusive wine accessories and glassware.

In conjunction with 567 CapeTalk, RMB WineX will again hold the Best-Wines-on-Show awards, South Africa's first significant wine awards decided by the public. WineX-goers who cast their votes will go into daily draws for fantastic prizes sponsored by BA Comair and Makro. Award categories include Best White Wine on Show, Best Red Wine on Show, and Most Hospitable Stand.

A liberal number of spittoons will be located throughout the hall, to encourage responsible alcohol consumption. A V&A Waterfront-RMB WineX courtesy shuttle will be provided to enable patrons to dine at the Waterfront before driving home. For details refer to 'PARKING' below.
