A prominent Paarl wine producer and international art dealer is among four people who have been hacked to death in a luxury villa while on a business trip to the Philippines.

The bodies of Manfred Schoeni, a co-owner of Ashanti wine estate, German property developer Anton Faustenhauser, British architect John 'Hamish' Cowperthwaite, 60, and a Filipina maid were found on the resort island of Bocaray.
