Meet the finalists who will be competing in the WOSA 2013 Sommelier Cup FINAL which will take place from 7–13 October 2013.

I was born and raised in the feral wilds of Seattle, Washington. In my other lives, I have been a competition clay pigeon shooter and cyclist, wilderness explorer, movie actor, Russian theatre scholar, psychology graduate student and world traveler — Ireland, Iceland, Croatia, India, Argentina and various other European countries, so far.

The moment I realized I could wear a suit and not have to sit behind a desk all day, I knew sommelier-ing was for me. Relentless curiosity led me from craft beer to wine to cocktails and beyond. Wine combines three of my great loves: flavors, history and travel. After three years in the trenches of the Upper West Side wine bar scene, I’m happy to be working downtown with the talented Master Maniec and the whole Corkbuzz team.

What’s your personal hangover cure?
Orange Gatorade. Large Americano. Egg and cheese sandwich. Liter of seltzer. The New Yorker.

Riesling or White Burgundy?
An impossible question. The answer is Champagne.

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?
I love bunnies. I think they’re totally adorable. Unfortunately for them, they’re also totally delicious.

Favorite weeknight bottle under $15?
Clos Roche Blanche Pineau d’Aunis “L’Arpent Rouge.”

What are you deathly afraid of? My possessions.
