Medal mania is upon us and the award and trophy buzz is getting louder.
It's often mentioned that September and October are the Harvest months for the P.R and marketing side of the wine industry.

Domestic and International competitions, such as the Veritas Awards, Michelangelo Awards, Decanter and IWSC show that SA wines are becoming more and more successful at the highest levels.

With the above being said, let's take a look at our October wineries, each of whom, have grabbed headlines with their wines.

Credo
Backed by more than 30 years of wine-making experience, Stellenbosch Vineyards brings you Credo, a wine of distinction that defines their winemaker's belief in the very best wine he could make.
The Credo range has been christened 'Quattuor' meaning four and represents "four of the best only" from each Recent accolades were a silver medal from the Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show for their Chenin Blanc- a must tipple for those spring days as well as IWSC medals: Gold for the Credo Shiraz Merlot Viognier 2010, Silver for both the Credo Shiraz 2010 and their Credo Chardonnay 2012.

Rudera
Located in the breathtaking d'Olyfboom Family Estate in historic Paarl, Rudera Wines is a boutique wine producer specialising in Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah since 1999.
They have a lovely little tasting room for a very intimate tasting experience and this beautiful century old home also serves as d'Olyfboom's conference centre and functions venue.
Rudera is no stranger to awards and recently received Golds for the Rudera De Tradisie Chenin Blanc 2010 as well as Rudera Platinum Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 at the International Wine Guide 2013.

Nederburg
Not much of an introduction is needed for Nederburg. Cellarmaster Razvan Macici has been with Nederburg since 2001 and in that time, has notched up numerous awards as well as the prestigious "winemaker of the year" accolade from Diners club in 2012.
Just recently they brought in 33 medals at the 2013 International Wine & Spirit (IWSC) Competition, winning three gold outstanding, five gold and 10 silver outstanding medals, as well as 15 silvers for wines across its multi-tiered range.
Located in Paarl, Nederburg is home to legendary wines and the host of the annual Nederburg Auction.
