De Wetshof
De Wetshof will be going all out to spoil Wacky Wine Week-enders visiting its iconic wine cellar during this year’s legendary Weekend in the Robertson Valley to be held from 6 to 9 June.
De Wetshof offers visitors the choice of various divine wine-and-dine venues for the duration of the weekend, where the bounty of the sea features prominently. Expect to feast on the freshest fish and seafood available in the Cape during this time of the year, accompanied by De Wetshof’s diverse range of internationally-renowned wines.

Mimosa Al Fresco Restaurant

Be prepared to be wooed by award-winning chef Bernhard Hess at the Mimosa Al Fresco Restaurant. Hess’s culinary talent is sure to culminate in mouth watering meals. Visitors can drop in to taste some of the De Wetshof and Danie de Wet wines, order their choice of wine and then take their seats for one – or more! – of his taste sensations.
The menu starts with fresh oysters provided by the Wild Peacock Deli in Stellenbosch or an exotic prawn salad. Main courses are diverse and exciting – choose between grilled crayfish tails or salmon steaks, both perfectly suited to one of De Wetshof’s Chardonnays. Those who favour red meat can order the Chalmar beef steak, grilled to perfection and topped with unctuous sauce made from wild mushrooms.

For those with an Oriental taste there will be sushi expertly prepared by sushi masters. Visitors will be able to enjoy freshly made Nigiri, Sashimi, Maki and other delights.

The Mimosa Al Fresco Restaurant is open on Friday from 12:00 to 19:00, Saturday from 10:30 to 20:00 and on Sunday from 10:30 to 16:00.

Early bird bookings: Call  023 – 6142351.

The Bubbly Oyster Lounge will be open on Friday from 12:00 to 19:00, Saturday from 10:30 to 20:00 and on Sunday from 10:30 to 16:00.

Wine tastings
If you’d simply like to attend one of De Wetshof’s popular wine tastings in the vat cellar you’ll have to book now on 023-615-1853 as every tasting session accommodates only 30 people.  These sessions will take place at 11:00 on Saturday and Sunday.

If you still crave more wine knowledge about the Robertson Wine Valley in particular, attend one of the talks by the Cape Wine Academy taking place at De Wetshof on Saturday and Sunday. During each session a different grape variety will be discussed and the special characteristics derived from the Robertson terroir will be highlighted by various experts.
There will be there sessions on Saturday: Chardonnay (12:00), Cabernet Sauvignon (14:00) and Shiraz (16:00). Waken your taste buds on Sunday morning at 09:30 with a discussion and tasting of this fertile valley’s Méthode Cap Classique wines.
