Jeanneret Momberg, the sales and marketing manager of Middelvlei farm in Stellenbosch, reveals the cause that tugged on her heartstrings.
The Youth Outreach in Stellenbosch is a home that provides overnight facilities for girls and boys between the ages of 4 to 18. Some of these children have been severely neglected and/or abandoned by parents and family. Food and shelter is given to them as well as a safe, harm-free environment.

Marriette Cawood is the social worker and manager, she and her team focus on the physical, emotional and psychological needs of the children including their recreational, cultural, and spiritual needs. The home can accommodate 20 children to sleep over for a six month period. The day visitors are up to 40 per day and these children are called drop ins but they still take part in in the education and homework side of the project.

The children and young people who pass through the doors are provided with:

• Meals
• Ablution and Washing Facilities
• Activities and Excursions
• Spiritual Support and Guidance
• Laundry

Because of the size of the home there is no play ground but Jeanneret is trying to secure a open property next to the land that belongs to Stellenbosch municipality. This area will be made into a recreational area where they aim to plant grass, put up a jungle gym and create a area where the children can play soccer.

Giving these young people a refuge is vital for their future and to keep this project alive, we desperately need help.

If anyone is interested in helping to donate either time, money, food, clothing please contact youthoutreach@webmail.co.za or jeanneret@middelvlei.co.za
