As South Africans, we like our food. Coupled with our killer wines, we know how to have a good feast, or two.
We’re not afraid to take risks both in the culinary industry or with our wines and we also know that a simple dish can flourish with the right wine.

This month is all about celebrating food, wine and those festivals that merge the two.

The Spotlight is on Allesverloren, Wildekrans, Badsberg and Durbanville Hills with an introduction to their respective winemakers and their chosen wines of the month.

Allesverloren

Allesverloren is the oldest estate along the Swartland wine route and its history dates back to the 17th Century. It was passed into the hands of the Malan family in 1872 and the fifth generation Malan; Danie Malan is now the estate’s current winemaker and owner. Join them at the 13th annual Riebeek Olive Festival on the farm in the Riebeek Valley on Sat 4th & Sun 5th May for a feast of olives and other delights.

Wildekrans
Wildekrans Boutique Wine Estate is a picturesque 1025-hectare estate tucked away in the beautiful Bot River Valley amongst fields of indigenous rynosterbos.

Badsberg
Badsberg wine cellar lies in the picturesque Rawsonville area at the foot of the well-known Badsberg mountain from which the cellar derives its name. Since its establishment in 1951, winemakers, members of the cellar and viticulturists at Badsberg have been committed to the production of quality wines year after year. Warm up in the winter months with their Soetes & Sop (Sweet wine and soup) festival on 19 & 20th July.

Durbanville Hills
Durbanville Hills would not have existed without the enthusiasm of the winery's producers and their faith in the high potential of their high-quality grapes. Long-time suppliers to Distell, the owners of seven farms, launched the first wines under the Durbanville Hills label in 2001 from the 1999 vintage.
