Entries now open for the 30th annual Blaauwklippen blending competition

Blaauwklippen
This unique competition is open to all wine clubs and has been going strong for the past 30 years.
No expert wine knowledge is needed, just membership to a wine club, as well as a taste for good wine!  Except for the winning trophy, the best newcomer club will also be honoured,  to give clubs who have never entered before recognition, and to motivate them to enter.

For 2013, entrants will receive a selection of four barrel matured wines:
Merlot 2012, Malbec 2011, Cabernet Franc 2011 and Shiraz 2010. All four these wines must be used in creating your blend and the Shiraz is limited to a maximum of 20% of the total blend.  The closing date for registration is Friday 19 April 2013 and a personal blend recipe  from each club must then be submitted to Blaauwklippen by 21 June 2013

At the estate, the cellar master will then make up all the entered blends, and a panel of judges select the four finalists.  These four finalists are invited to an exclusive lunch at Blaauwklippen on Friday 6 September  where the winner will be announced.

The winning blend will be bottled under the Blaauwklippen Barouche label and recognition will be given to the successful wine club on the back label.

The winning club and three finalists also win other great prizes, including wine, return airfares and accommodation for the weekend of the prize giving, and glassware from Vitria.

Registration fee:  R180  per wine parcel, including the four wines and a plastic measuring cylinder.
Transport and additional hampers excluded.
