Lonely Hearts of Harvest II

There is an unmentioned rule in the winelands. Don’t hassle a winemaker during harvest, even if it falls around Valentine's Day. In fact, don’t look at one; don’t even breathe near one lest you wish to end your days in a stainless steel cask.
It’s a tense time.

But what about the untold heroes, the silent partners of the Harvest? Wine.co.za meets up with the faces that February forgot. Get your tissues ready, it’s going to get emotional.

Our second lonely heart is Nikki Ellis, another formers news editor for wine.co.za - we see a pattern forming. She is the other half of Warren Ellis, winemaker at Neil Ellis Wines and she is no stranger to spending harvest time twiddling her thumbs and praying that Warren's bakkie doesn't break down and leave him stranded.

This year though, it's slightly different as she is mummy to beautiful 8 month old boy, Alec - so the house is less silent.
