Highlighting the maturation potential of Buitenverwachting Sauvignon Blanc.
The only gold medal for Sauvignon Blanc awarded in the Fairbairn Capital Trophy Wine Show went to Buitenverwachting for their 1996 vintage.

This wine also received a trophy in the newly-introduced Museum Class, disproving the widely held view that local Sauvignons do not repay keeping.

The wine has a sound track record. It was selected for South African Airways on release and received four stars from Wine magazine. The ’88 John Platter guide commented on the 'outstanding development' of the Buitenverwachting Sauvignon Blancs in the bottle: '...after about two years they retain a clear freshness with flinty, Loire-like steeliness.'

Buitenverwachting’s 2003 Sauvignon has also proved a winner. In a Sauvignon Blanc tasting held this month by the German publication Alles Ûber Wein, Buitenverwachting, at 92 points, was the top-rated South African Sauvignon tasted.
