With only a few weeks remaining, preparations for the fourth Riebeek Valley Olive Festival are in full swing and the stage is set for a bumper festival.

For three days, the whole Riebeek Valley will be turned into a giant festival venue with all sorts of entertainment for the whole family. The central theme is, of course, olives and more olives, and olimaniacs can look forward to a wide variety of workshops, seminars, tastings and all kinds of other activities that will reveal all they have ever wanted to know about the noble olive.

A particularly interesting ladies' morning, followed by a sumptuous brunch will be presented at the Riebeek Valley Hotel. Francois Ferreira, renowned television and Parmalat chef is going to entice the audience with his cookery skills while one of the local artists will provide entertainment. Lucky draws and gifts will add to all the excitement. The Olive Boutique will also be staging a number of fascinating activities. The pasta-making and olive oil soap-making workshops are bound to attract record numbers while stalls such as the Belgian chocolates and La Masseria cheeses will most certainly be swamped.

All the wineries in the valley will be open for the duration of the festival and apart from regular wine tasting and sales, each cellar is presenting a host of additional activities. Allesverloren will be staging an Italian festival, Riebeek Cellars will be hosting the Riebeek Wine Cellar restaurant and Kloovenburg will be offering, amongst others, a Mediterranean buffet.

The Olive Festival is out and out a family affair and while mom and dad are busy with olive and wine matters, kids will be having a whale of a time with all the entertainment laid on for small folk. This is the one festival that should not be missed …. there's going to be something for everybody.
