The Duke of Wellington Ball
I am writing on behalf of the Wellington Guild of Fine Wines to thank you for your wonderful support in attending the Duke of Wellington Ball.

The Wellington Wine Producers Educational Trust will benefit from well over R150, 000 and it has given them all a huge boost and determination to proceed with their aims - both in terms of winemaking progress, as well as the development of the Trust.

As to the wine that commemorates the Duke and Duchess's visit - the special red Blend known as Duke of Wellington - The Duke's Blend - there are some limited quantities available for those who wish to keep this special memento - and also to enjoy a well-regarded wine. The wine is a blend from several estates in the area; made by Wellington winemakers working together, and a 10% share of the company producing this wine has been donated to the Wellington Wine Producers Educational Trust.

Juliet Cullinan, well known Johannesburg-based wine personality and expert, writes of it:

This wine is a careful selection of the finest wines from the Wellington valley. It has a brilliant rich mulberry hue, with wonderful clarity. There are cherry and raspberry aromas on the nose, with hints of nutmeg, thatch, mocca and violets. There is an elegant creamy flavour with layers of intensity. The palate displays an overtone of spice, with cherry flavours, soft tannins and a complex, lingering finish that intensifies on the palate. The creamy accessibility on the palate reveals the blenders art, and is a wonderful compliment to the Duke.
