First running event through the vineyards of Devon Valley, Stellenbosch
Now is the time to get fit for fun! Limited entries for the all-new Devon Valley De Vine Run presented by The House of J.C. Le Roux, a convivial running/walking event through the picturesque Devon Valley, outside Stellenbosch on Saturday, 27 March, have hit the streets.

For the first time in South Africa 2000 runners with a fondness for fun will set foot for a 16km excursion through the vineyards and cellars of Devon Hill, Clos Malverne, Middelvlei, SylvanVale, Louisvale, Meinert wines and The House of J.C. Le Roux, the 7 participating estates in the Devon Valley.

‘The Devon Valley De Vine Run is a unique race where winning is very much beside the point. The emphasis is on fun on this light-hearted voyage of discovering and sampling the world-class wines of the Devon Valley,’ says Martin Meinert, Chairman of Devon Valley Vintners and owner of Meinert Wines.

Participants will be treated to various refreshment stations dotted along the course where corks of award-winning wines and the best of bubblies will pop in favour of those with a taste for the grape.

The Devon Valley De Vine Run also encourages participants to bring the spirit of fancy dress along with their athletic prowess and to colour the winding tracks of the valley with a kaleidoscope of amusing outfits. ‘A wig, tutu or convict stripes, a butterfly disguise or a nun on the run … anything that adds colour to this refined scene of celebration and comradeship will do,’ said Meinert.

The Devon Valley De Vine Run 2004 starts at 7.30 at Oude Libertas. There are ample opportunities to win your weight in wine and prizes for the Best Dressed male and female is also up for grabs.

Entries cost R120 per person, including a race T-shirt, J.C. Le Roux sparkling wine and a wine tasting cup.
