Cape Vineyards SABS ISO 9001:2000 registered company
Rawsonville-based wine marketer and exporter, Cape Vineyards are raising their glasses in a toast to the news that they have received their certificate of registration from the SABS, meeting the requirements of SABS ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management Systems in respect of wine export and marketing for bulk and bottled wines.

The notification comes after three years of work by the Cape Vineyards’ all-women team with the assistance of Jimmy van der Merwe of Qualiticians, and is a proactive move by this small export company. By meeting these international requirements, Cape Vineyards gains a high level of credibility with European markets opening doors for new export business.

Cape Vineyards was started in 1994, when seven of Rawsonville’s wineries combined their resources for the production of top quality wine to be marketed and exported by a central office. Today Cape Vineyards exports more than 8 million litres of wine in bulk and bottle annually. Over the past nine and a half years Cape Vineyards has penetrated the difficult markets of Canada, Scandinavia, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Switzerland, Netherlands, Germany and France.

The International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies representing 90 countries. The ISO 9000 standards are, by international consensus, a distillation of the best quality assurance practices and have been adopted by the majority of the member bodies of ISO.

In reaction to this achievement, Bottle Green Ltd, Cape Vineyards’ UK partners in the Jantara brand released the following statement: ‘This is great news for Cape Vineyards. The UK trade is one of the most demanding in the world and value ISO certification very highly. We are certain that our customers - current and future - will recognise this as a sign of Cape Vineyards’ determination to be at the forefront of the wine trade.’
