A South African Sign Language practitioner, Televison presenter and disability inclusion specialist, Modutle has spent her career bringing Deaf and hearing communities together. LesegoSigns Wines extends that work into a space where people naturally gather: around a table, in conversation and in celebration. It also invites them to take a first step towards learning South African Sign Language (SASL).
“Sign Language has taught me that connection is about far more than spoken words,” says Modutle. “With LesegoSigns Wines, I want people to enjoy the wine, share the moment and feel curious enough to learn a sign or two.”
Learning South African Sign Language opens more opportunities for Deaf and hearing people to communicate directly. Even a few signs can make an everyday interaction more welcoming; learning the language more fully helps build lasting connections and greater inclusion.
The collection also honours the memory of Modutle’s mother. It is a personal reminder to cherish time together, celebrate the people we love and hold on to the moments that matter.
