Graham Beck
Cap Classique Month is an opportunity to celebrate the craft that has shaped the House of Graham Beck – and the vision that set it all in motion.

In celebration of Cap Classique

More than four decades ago, Graham Beck recognised the extraordinary potential of Robertson's limestone-rich soils and set out with a bold ambition: to create a bottle-fermented sparkling wine that could stand alongside the world's finest.

Founding cellarmaster Pieter Ferreira helped bring that vision to life at the House of Graham Beck, culminating in our maiden Cap Classique vintage in 1991 and the beginning of a singular pursuit that would come to define the House.

Since then, that pursuit has been shaped by craftsmanship, curiosity and an enduring devotion to the art of traditional bottle-fermented sparkling wine. From vineyard to cellar, every detail has continued to be refined while remaining true to the ambition that began it all.

Today, under the stewardship of cellarmaster Pierre de Klerk, that pursuit continues. Graham Beck Cap Classique is poured at celebrations around the world, earning international acclaim while continuing to champion the category from which our story began.

This Cap Classique Month, we celebrate how far that journey has come – and the vision that continues to carry it forward.

The pinnacle of our craft: Graham Beck Cuvée Clive

No wine embodies our pursuit of the perfect bubble more completely than Cuvée Clive. Created in memory of Graham Beck's beloved son Clive and his vibrant zest for life, this prestige cuvée is crafted only in exceptional vintages and in extremely limited quantities.

Chardonnay from three handpicked parcels on our Robertson estate forms the heart of the blend, complemented by a small proportion of Pinot Noir. Only the prized tête de cuvée – the first 400 litres of juice per tonne – is selected for the wine. Following secondary fermentation, Cuvée Clive spends a minimum of five years on the lees, developing the profound complexity, finesse and creamy mousse that distinguish it.

Released sparingly over the past two decades, Cuvée Clive has been named Master of Wine Tim Atkin's Cap Classique of the Year seven times an unprecedented achievement. With remarkable sophistication and superb ageing potential, it remains the crown jewel of our Icon Collection and the ultimate expression of our craft.
