We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Thys Lombard over the weekend.

Wine industry professional Thys Lombard died unexpectedly of a heart attack at the Vintners Surf Classic in Jongensfontein this weekend.

He worked as the international sales manager at Oldenburg Vineyards in Stellenbosch. He also ran Thys Lombard Photography and Videography, specialising in action sports, surfing, and school rugby.

As an active member of the South African wine and surf community, he regularly captured and participated in events like the Vintners Surf Classic, an annual surf competition which brings together winemakers and wine industry professionals to raise funds for charity.

A Paul Roos Gymnasium alumnus, Thys was a valued member of the official media team for the high school, routinely photographing their First XV rugby matches and campus events.

We extend our most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Thys Lombard.
