Perdeberg Wines' The Dry Land Collection Joseph's Legacy 2024 was named a top 5 winner in the Shiraz Blend category at the Shiraz SA Challenge.

Perdeberg Wines, known as The Home of Chenin Blanc™, is also earning recognition for its red wine range, with The Dry Land Collection Joseph's Legacy 2024 named a Top 5 Winner in the Shiraz Blend category at the Shiraz SA Challenge 2026.

The Shiraz SA Challenge celebrates the best expressions of Shiraz and Shiraz-based blends produced in South Africa, drawing entries from the country's leading wine-producing regions. Joseph's Legacy, a blend of 70% Shiraz, 18% Grenache and 12% Mourvèdre from dry-farmed, 25-year-old vines in the Coastal Region, was recognised among the category's top performers.

  • Top 5 – The Dry Land Collection Joseph's Legacy 2024

“Joseph's Legacy has always been about honouring the character of our dry-farmed vineyards, and the 2024 vintage tested that more than most. An early start to the season was followed by unseasonal winds in late November and early December that reduced our yield, and rising temperatures in early February forced us to bring the harvest forward again. Despite all of that, the quality of the fruit we picked was exceptional. The blend of 70% Shiraz, 18% Grenache and 12% Mourvèdre from our 25-year-old vines has real depth and structure, and seeing it recognised among the Top 5 Shiraz Blends in the country is a proud moment for the whole team,” says Johann Smith, Perdeberg viticulturist.

Joseph's Legacy was created as the perfect braai-time companion or to enjoy on those slow winter Sundays, so it feels fitting that it's being recognised in a national Shiraz Blend showcase. This result is a reminder that Perdeberg's story goes well beyond Chenin Blanc. Our Dry Land Collection reds are built on the same commitment to old vines, dry-farming and honest winemaking that defines everything we do.

This latest recognition adds to Perdeberg's growing list of accolades, and reflects the strength and versatility of The Dry Land Collection across both white and red wine styles.
