Boschendal
Boschendal spoke to women from across the farm about their work, what being a woman means to them, and their Farm Shop favourites.

To celebrate Women's Month, we spoke to six women from across the Boschendal farm about their work, what being a woman means to them and their Farm Shop favourites. From the fields and gardens to the kitchen, and all the spaces in between, each brings her own perspective, experience and unmistakable taste.

Amy Kropman, chief executive officer

For Amy, being a woman is about nurturing and doing in equal measure. It is also about recognising the strengths and potential that have too often been overlooked. Her Farm Shop favourites cover both sides of the snack cupboard: dukkah-spiced crackers for something savoury, almond clusters for something sweet and anything with artichokes, at any time of year.

Lucy, farm shop assistant

Lucy is one of the familiar faces behind the Farm Shop counter and part of the team that brings warmth and care to every visit. Her favourite is simple and well chosen: farm-baked chocolate mousse cake with a red cappuccino on the side.

Shannon, assistant livestock manager

Shannon began her journey at Boschendal as an intern. Since then, mentorship, curiosity and many early mornings have helped shape her path into management. What does she enjoy most about being a woman? In her words, “everything”. She sees resilience and beauty in every season. Her Farm Shop favourite is just as comforting: pastéis de nata, baked fresh on the farm each morning.

Tina, landscape supervisor

Tina recently moved from the Werf Food Garden into her role as Landscape Supervisor. Along the way, she has made it a point to show other women that strength and capability are not defined by gender. Her Friday ritual is a chocolate croissant, baked fresh on the farm. One treat she never skips.

Chef Tamlin, head chef at The Deli Restaurant

Tamlin thinks about flavour for a living, so her favourite was never going to be ordinary. She pairs grass-fed beef biltong with rosemary and rock salt potato crisps: simple ingredients that work particularly well together. To Tamlin, being a woman means carrying power and care into every space she enters.

Aseza, e-commerce team supervisor

Aseza brings energy, care and one of the best laughs on the farm to Boschendal’s e-commerce team. Her go-to pairing is smoked trout pâté with farm-baked ciabatta. Easy, generous and always worth sharing. What does she value most about being a woman? The care, the support and the freedom to be entirely one of a kind.
