Cabernet Sauvignon Challenge
Producers are invited to enter their wines in the Cabernet Sauvignon Challenge before 14 May 2026.

It is time to shine the spotlight on Cabernet Sauvignon! Cabernet Sauvignon is a very popular wine among South African consumers.

"One could say my wine journey began when I was given a case of 1974 Nederburg Cabernet Sauvignon in 1980," says Celia Gilloway of Events by Celia, the organiser of the Cabernet Sauvignon Challenge. "I have had the opportunity to taste many wonderful Cabernet Sauvignon wines."

We need to promote all the different brands available. After studying the way South African consumers purchase wine for a year, we came to the conclusion that they are drawn to the wines that have award stickers or that they have read about online.

Producers are invited to enter their Cabernet Sauvignons and Cabernet Sauvignon-led blends in the Cabernet Sauvignon Challenge 2026.

We try to keep the costs and stock requirements to a minimum while offering a well-run, blind judging with qualified judges, audited by Cecil Kilpin & Co. We only publish the gold medallists. Results are available immediately. Stickers will be available for sale to the relevant entrants.

Only two bottles are required for the judging. Wines must be bottled but may be unlabelled (handwritten labels are accepted).
