The legacy of Ted Jordan
With great sadness, we share the passing of Ted Jordan, the founder of Jordan Wine Estate, on 6 April 2026. From the first vineyards developed in 1982 to the Timepiece wines, his legacy lives on. Our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.
We bid farewell to Ted, a man who quietly shaped so much of what Jordan Wine Estate is today. Ted never needed the spotlight. He was happiest out on the land, building, planting, and figuring things out with his hands. Whether it was developing a new vineyard or moving earth with his bulldozer, he poured himself into the estate in a way that’s hard to put into words.
Back in 1982, Ted and Sheelagh took a chance on this piece of Stellenbosch land. What stands here today is because of that – years of hard work, belief, and a deep respect for the land. Even up until his retirement at 78, Ted was still right there in the middle of harvest, fully involved, fully invested.
Join us in celebrating Ted’s life on 8 May 2026 at Jordan.
In true Ted fashion, it won’t be anything too formal – just good wine, shared stories, and time spent together. To mark this occasion, you are welcome to bring a cherished bottle of wine to share in remembrance.
