Niew Beverages has announced a new national distribution partnership with Stellenbosch-based family-owned brand, Simonsig, marking a significant milestone for both companies and strengthening Niew Beverages’ premium wine and Cap Classique offering.
Effective 1 May 2026, the full Simonsig portfolio – including its pioneering Cap Classique range and acclaimed still wines – will be available nationally through Niew Beverages across on-trade, retail, and wholesale channels. The rollout will be implemented simultaneously across South Africa, supported by channel-specific execution strategies designed to ensure strong brand positioning and market performance from day one.
This partnership brings together two businesses aligned in their commitment to long-term brand building, strategic growth, and meaningful market engagement. With its national footprint and structured channel approach, Niew Beverages provides a platform for Simonsig to deepen its presence across key metropolitan areas while unlocking opportunities in emerging markets.
At the heart of the partnership is Simonsig’s iconic Kaapse Vonkel range – South Africa’s first Cap Classique, first released in 1971. As Simonsig celebrates 55 years of Kaapse Vonkel, the category remains central to the brand’s identity and will lead the narrative within the Niew Beverages portfolio.
“Simonsig is a brand defined by a legacy of innovation, authenticity, and craftsmanship,” Alexa Radloff, National Sales Manager at Simonsig, notes. “At its heart, Simonsig is about more than wine - it is about bringing people together, celebrating life’s moments, and sharing a story that has been evolving for generations.”
The partnership is expected to accelerate growth through improved route-to-market execution, enhanced market intelligence, and targeted channel strategies. With dedicated expertise across on-trade, retail, and wholesale environments, Niew Beverages will support both the continued leadership of Kaapse Vonkel and the expansion of the broader Simonsig portfolio.
The collaboration also reflects strong alignment in values, with both businesses focused on authenticity, quality, consistency, and sustainable brand building.
“This partnership marks an exciting new chapter for Simonsig. Together with Niew Beverages, we are focused on building the brand with greater clarity, consistency, and intent. Simonsig didn’t just enter the Cap Classique category – Simonsig created it. Now, together with Niew Beverages, we’re ready to take it even further,” Alexa Radloff said.
With national availability from May 2026, the partnership signals a strategically aligned route to market designed to support both volume growth and long-term premiumisation, while reinforcing Simonsig’s position as a cornerstone South African wine brand.
