The hunt for the next star of the South African wine scene is officially on. The South African Sommeliers Association (SASA) is thrilled to announce that registration is now open for the Best Young Sommelier of South Africa 2026 competition.
While we are excited to host the finals in Gauteng for the very first time, remember that this is a nationwide search. We are calling on the brightest young talent from every corner of South Africa to step forward and compete for the title.
The details
- Date: 1 July 2026
- Location: Gauteng (Venue TBC)
- Format: A rigorous, full-day event testing theory, service, and blind tasting.
- Eligibility: Open to all South African residents aged 18 to 35 who are current SASA members.
