Reaching this milestone is not only a celebration of our history, but above all, a celebration of our people.
For 85 years, every achievement, every harvest, and every step forward has been made possible by the dedicated individuals who form part of our organisation and the communities around us. We would not be where we are today without the people who have walked this journey with us. That is why caring for our people remains at the heart of who we are.
Through our CJBL FPC Fairtrade Premium Projects, our commitment to people at Perdeberg Wines continues to grow in meaningful and practical ways, ensuring that support reaches workers, families, and vulnerable community members where it matters most.

Investing in our communities
Across the Agter Paarl, Suider Paarl and Klapmuts communities, our Fairtrade initiatives have focused on restoring dignity, providing relief, and creating opportunities. In the Agter Paarl community, support was extended to a rural family who tragically lost everything in a house fire. Clothing, school uniforms, and essential household items were purchased to help them rebuild their lives. Contributions were also made to Windmeul Primary School to strengthen their sporting and cultural programmes, while Aguila High School received a full year’s supply of much-needed Rotatrim A4 copier paper.
In Suider Paarl, food hampers were distributed to unemployed and vulnerable farm dwellers, while warm winter bedding was provided to pensioners to bring comfort during the colder months. Additional support was given to Bergendal Primary School to assist with their ongoing needs.
Within the Klapmuts community, food hampers were again distributed to vulnerable pensioners, and transport costs were covered for a women’s educational event, ensuring that access to learning and empowerment remains within reach.
Supporting education and youth development
Education remains one of the most important investments we can make in the future of our communities.
A dedicated school support project, which includes uniforms, school fees, stationery, and other educational essentials, has been planned for the first quarter of 2026.
We are equally proud of our focus on youth inclusion. Eight talented young people from our rural communities were fully sponsored to attend the Boland Sentraal Youth Rugby Camp. This sponsorship covered interprovincial travel, sporting events, and valuable development opportunities, opening doors for growth, confidence, and future success.
Supporting our workers at home
At Perdeberg, we believe that the well-being of our workers extends beyond the workplace and into their homes and families.
All worker groups received household essentials and clothing items according to their specific needs. This included shoes, clothing, stationery, beds, bedding, furniture, electronics, and appliances.
Practical support aimed at improving daily quality of life. In addition, every worker received an equitable Fairtrade cash bonus to assist with day-to-day and year-end living expenses.
A lifeline through transport
One of the projects that continues to make a profound difference in people’s lives is the long-term transport initiative.
The two Fairtrade Premium-funded minibuses have become a trusted lifeline for workers, their families, and community members. These vehicles provide transport into town for grocery shopping, medical appointments, school meetings, and other essential errands. This service not only saves costs for families but also improves access to critical services and strengthens the overall well-being of our communities.

People first: Then, now, and for the future
As we celebrate 85 years of Perdeberg, we are reminded that our strength has always been our people.
Our workers, families, and surrounding communities are the heart of our story. Their dedication, resilience, and shared commitment have shaped who we are today. Looking ahead, our promise remains the same: to continue investing in people, uplifting communities, and ensuring that those who helped build Perdeberg continue to be cared for.
Because after 85 years, one truth remains unchanged: Our people are our greatest legacy.
