This morning, the farm feels different. The sun still rises over the Raka vineyards, but the familiar sounds of laughter, chatter, and busy footsteps among the rows have fallen quiet. The harvest team now rests after weeks of early mornings and long days.
But while the vineyards are quiet, the winery is very much alive. This is where the next chapter of the harvest continues – where the work of the past weeks begins to take shape in every tank, and where the red wines slowly make their way into barrels.
We are incredibly grateful for this year’s harvest. Despite a season marked by extreme conditions – from veld fires to unexpected rainfall and intense heat – we have come through it with a crop that exceeded last year’s. In total, 601 tons of grapes were carefully harvested, all by hand, by a dedicated team of 28 people.
It is no small feat, and something we are deeply proud of. We are truly grateful for all that our team has achieved.
