Babylonstoren
After a long, hot summer, we're ready to welcome the softer season at Babylonstoren. We're harvesting olives, savouring Easter treats, and stacking long weekends for an extended stay on the farm.

April brings shades of gold to the farm

In the garden, the seasonal stars are persimmons, glowing their deep orange to herald autumn. Similarly, the espaliered hedges are dotted with ripening quince, fuzzy and golden-hued. Cooler days make for lazy strolling – bring the whole family for a visit.

All about olives

As verdant vineyards turn to shades of rust and ochre, the wine harvest slows and attention turns to the farm’s olive groves. This year’s harvest kicked off with Maurino and Frantoio, which will soon be pressed for their golden liquid and tinned into their farm-made olive oils. It’s the perfect time to experience an olive oil tour and see the olive oil-making process up close.

Family fun for the holidays

The approaching school holidays and April's long weekends are a wonderful time to spend a slow day at Soetmelksvlei. The children’s play area at the Old Stables Restaurant is an immersive, hands-on experience – so too the life-size Cape Dutch playhouse. Hours of screen-free fun, guaranteed.

Over Easter weekend, children can join a special scavenger hunt or Hopscapade at Soetmelksvlei, or opt for the Kids Easter fun workshop at Babylonstoren for a morning of waddling through the garden, catching critters with Babylonstoren’s bug experts, egg painting and a light lunch in the Byzantium. With limited spots available, booking is essential.
