The year kicked off at full speed, and now it gathers momentum once again as we begin the 2026 harvest season. This year is especially meaningful for us, as it marks our 25th harvest – a true milestone celebrating a quarter of a century of winemaking at Raka Wines.
Even after 25 years in the wine industry, the excitement that harvest brings remains unmatched. There is something incredibly special about starting with a clean slate each season and watching the journey unfold from vineyard to bottle.
Although 2025 has been a very dry year, we were fortunate to have sufficient water to irrigate our vineyards where needed. So far, everything is looking extremely promising for the new harvest – though, as every farmer knows, one can never count their chickens before they hatch.
We proudly started picking our Sauvignon Blanc grapes yesterday. The juice already carries lovely tropical aromas, and we are excited to see what the first grapes of the season will bring.
On a regional note, the veld fires in the Overberg area finally seem to be at bay. It has been a nerve-wracking time, and we sincerely hope these were the last fires of the season. We are deeply grateful for all the assistance and support we received.
