1. Where does the name Friesland come from?
Friesland is a province in the northern part of The Netherlands and the farm name honours the heritage of the first Dutch Steenkamps settling in the Cape in the late 1600’s. Owner De Bruyn Steenkamp’s first name is Floris so the Dutch link is there!
2. Where is the Friesland wine farm?
Friesland is a boutique 36 hectare wine farm in the Bottelary Hills outside Stellenbosch. Located with South-west facing slopes towards Table Bay and the ocean, and with good elevation, the vines benefit from a Mediterranean climate tempered by ocean’s proximity and cool afternoon breezes.
3. Who are the people behind Friesland wines?
Husband and wife team De Bruyn and Marilise Steenkamp are the owners of Friesland wines. They are well supported by Stefan Truter running finance and operations. Cape Wine Master De Bruyn grew up as 4th generation on the Steenkamp family land and selects and blends the wines sourced from the best Bottelary Stellenbosch vineyards.
4. Which wines are in the Friesland range?
