At the 2025 International Wine and Spirit Competition, Perdeberg was ranked among the top 15 global wine producers and the top 2 South African wine producers.

Rooted in the renowned wine-growing soils of Paarl, Perdeberg Wines has long been celebrated as The Home of Chenin Blanc, where craftsmanship, innovation, and a deep respect for the land are expressed in every bottle.

With their focus on expressive terroir and grapes sourced from dry-farmed vineyards, Perdeberg has established a signature style that is both authentic and unforgettable.

This year, the global wine community took special notice. At the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) 2025, Perdeberg was ranked among the top 15 global wine producers and among the top 2 South African wine producers. A landmark achievement that highlights the cellar’s consistency, quality, and continued impact on the world wine stage.

A new global benchmark: The IWSC Top 50 Producers

In addition to the awards, this year’s IWSC Awards Ceremony on 12 November introduced a groundbreaking initiative: the IWSC Top 50 Producers in Wines and Spirits.

This new list celebrates producers who demonstrate exceptional performance over time, recognising distilleries and wineries that impress year after year. Rankings are based on three years of IWSC participation, taking into account not only medals but also entries that didn’t win, offering a holistic view of producer excellence and consistency.

This global snapshot highlights the “gold standard” of winemaking and distilling, featuring leading brands from across the world.

Why Perdeberg stands out

Perdeberg’s success stems from a winemaking philosophy that champions authenticity and precision. Their vineyards, many of which are dry-farmed, yield grapes with remarkable flavour, structure, and natural balance. This approach not only respects the environment but creates wine with unmistakable depth and character.

Back in the cellar, the team’s small-batch approach ensures that every cultivar receives meticulous attention. The result? Wines that express purity, nuance, and the unique personality of their origins.

Chenin Blanc, in particular, has become Perdeberg’s signature. From vibrant, fruit-forward expressions to complex, barrel-matured styles, Perdeberg continues to push boundaries for what South African Chenin Blanc can be. Their reds and alternative white varietals, crafted with the same level of care, further enrich their diverse and award-winning portfolio.

“Being named South Africa’s 2nd best producer and 15th globally is an incredible moment for our team,” says the Perdeberg Winemaking team. “It’s a testament to our commitment to dry-farmed excellence, our passion for Chenin Blanc, and the unique potential of our terroir. We are proud to represent South African wine on the world stage.”
