Suckering, or the removal of excess shoots, is continuing, and because the vines are growing extra vigorously this season, this important practice has taken up a lot of our production team’s time.
Our new MCC vintage is getting its final touches with riddling and disgorgement, there is new growth in our gardens, the geese and chickens are also showing off their new offspring, so the general air of optimism is palpable.
In celebration of our 340th anniversary, you don't have to wait until Black Friday to stock up on your favourite wines, as we are running massive specials all month long. The Tasting Room also has fantastic offers to help you get your Christmas gifts sorted early. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to purchase our award-winning wines at unbeatable prices, while stocks last.

International Merlot Day
7 November was International Merlot Day. There is no better way to celebrate this great grape, one of South Africa’s favourites, than with a glass of our acclaimed Alberta Annemarie Merlot. Named after the pioneering former owner of Muratie, Alberta Annemarie (Annemie) Canitz, it has typical varietal notes of juicy black fruit with cocoa, cinnamon and toasted hazelnut. The stunning 2021 vintage is currently on promotion; make sure it's the one in your glass.
Visit us this weekend to enjoy the sensational weather with a tasting or a bite to eat on the terrace. Our new summer menu has been getting rave reviews from guests. It is full of light and fresh heritage flavours, with a wide variety of small plates perfect for sharing. Enjoy exciting new dishes like Caprese salad, afval bitterballen, smoked trout ceviche and biltong gnocchi alongside old favourites like steak and chips or lamb shank. Book in advance, conveniently via Dineplan, to secure your table and avoid disappointment.
Until next month, keep well and fill your glass with our finest!
