Donkiesbaai
Donkiesbaai Wines introduces its latest collection of white wines: Steen, Grenache Blanc, and Hooiwijn.

As the 2025 vintage takes shape, Donkiesbaai Wines proudly introduces its latest collection of white wines: Donkiesbaai Steen, Grenache Blanc, and Hooiwijn. Each capturing the purity, personality, and playful spirit that define the brand’s West Coast roots.

Crafted with integrity, the Donkiesbaai 2025 whites embody a balance of freshness, texture, and character. These are wines that speak of sun and sky, sea breeze and sandstone – of adventure and authenticity woven into every bottle.

Donkiesbaai Steen 2025

From Old Vine Certified Chenin Blanc vineyards in Piekenierskloof, this vibrant, medium-bodied white is alive with aromas of fruit salad, vanilla, and lemon meringue. The palate unfolds with layers of pineapple, dried apple, and chamomile on a creamy, dry texture, balanced by lively acidity and hints of almond biscotti, lemon curd, and a touch of white pepper.

Donkiesbaai Grenache Blanc 2025

If you look closely, you’ll spot a new face on the Grenache Blanc 2025 label. Our pilot donkey has traded his fishing net for wings, ready to take to the skies in a cheeky little taildragger plane - the kind built for rough, off-the-beaten-path adventures, just like the journey to the real Donkiesbaai. The story behind the label runs close to home: Jean Engelbrecht, who once piloted planes before taking over the family winery, owns the very taildragger that inspired this design - a nod to adventure, charm, and a love of the unexpected.

In the glass, the wine opens with aromas of citrus blossom, white peach, and a hint of oyster shell. The palate is fresh and dry, layered with juicy nectarine, apricot, and melon, balanced by bright acidity and a soft, textured finish.

Donkiesbaai Hooiwijn 2025

A luscious, sun-drenched dessert wine with aromas of dried apricot, mango, candied pineapple, jasmine, and honeycomb. The palate is rich yet beautifully lifted by fresh acidity, revealing flavours of apricot and honey with a delicate note of sun-dried straw on the finish. Golden, elegant, and deeply expressive of its origins.

Each wine tells a story of place, patience, and personality. From the sandy soils of Piekenierskloof to the whimsical, adventurous heart that fuels every Donkiesbaai release.
