Pinotage Association
The Pinotage Association, together with valued partners, announces the upcoming series of Pinotage 100 events this October and November, marking the centenary of South Africa’s proudly homegrown PINOTAGE.

October at Meerendal Wine Estate, Durbanville

Meerendal Wine Estate, one of the founding homes of Pinotage, will host the cornerstone events of the centenary:

  • 9 October 2025 – Absa Top 10 Pinotage Awards – An evening celebrating South Africa’s leading contemporary Pinotage wines. (Invited guests)
  • 10 October 2025 – Absa Perold Cape Blend & Rosé Awards – Honouring innovation and diversity in Pinotage winemaking. (Invited guests)
  • 11 October 2025 – Pinotage Party – A gathering of producers and industry partners in tribute to the cultivar. (Invited guests)
Please note: The Public Festival Days originally scheduled at Meerendal have been postponed. The decision was made in light of the overwhelming calendar of Pinotage 100 events taking place across the country. The Association is committed to ensuring that these celebrations carry forward into Pinotage 101 in 2026, building on the momentum and extending opportunities for public participation.

Pinotage 100 is not confined to one location - the celebrations extend nationally:

A Nationwide Celebration

While flagship events anchor the centenary, most Pinotage wine estates are hosting their own activities throughout October and November, ensuring that enthusiasts across South Africa can raise a glass to 100 years of Pinotage.

A Legacy Carried Forward

Beyers Truter, Chairman of the Pinotage Association, reflects: “Pinotage’s centenary is more than a milestone - it is a living legacy. The decision to extend the celebrations into Pinotage 101 in 2026 means that our heritage grape will continue to inspire, unite, and progress well beyond this centenary year.”
