This Heritage Day (Wednesday 24 September), Brookdale Estate invites guests to take a leisurely drive out to the Paarl Winelands and celebrate the spirit of South Africa through a rich and flavourful dining experience at The Bistro.

Situated on a working wine farm, The Bistro at Brookdale Estate is known for its farm-to-table philosophy, showcasing seasonal ingredients, contemporary flair, and warm South African hospitality. Whether seated indoors or enjoying the views from the terrace, guests will find themselves immersed in an atmosphere of authenticity, elegance, and cultural pride.

Surrounded by tranquil vineyards and gardens, The Bistro at Brookdale offers the perfect setting to honour South Africa’s diverse culinary heritage with a selection of hearty, heritage-inspired dishes from its seasonal menu – many of which are cooked the South African way, over open fire.

Executive chef Gary Coetzee’s starters include the likes of crispy fried chicken thighs served with Cape Malay chilli blatjang and slaw, as well as fresh West Coast mussels meunière with Chenin Blanc, sofrito, butter parsley, and toasted baguette. Main course dishes feature locally inspired favourites such as curried beetroot Pave with peanut, mint and coriander chutney, atchaar pickled green pineapple, and onion bhaji; masala linefish served with palak, roasted fennel, fine beans, a delicate fish samoosa and curry sauce; and a slow-cooked braised oxtail with red wine, rosemary, samp, baby carrots, onion, and gremolata. For dessert, guests can indulge in the decadent Cape brandy soufflé, accompanied by anglaise and walnut praline gelato as a sweet tribute to South African tradition.

The Heritage Day celebration includes a complimentary glass of red or white wine from the Mason Road lifestyle range, perfectly paired with the menu’s bold and comforting flavours. Diners are also invited to visit the Tasting Room to explore the broader range of Brookdale and Mason Road wines, all crafted on the estate with a focus on character, quality, and balance.
