Franschhoek Cellar is excited to share its results from the 2025 Michelangelo International Wine and Spirits Awards.

An iron fist in a velvet glove

The Last Elephant 2022 has been awarded a gold medal at the Michelangelo International Wine and Spirits Awards 2025.

This recognition celebrates the wine’s hallmark balance of power and grace – a true expression of strength wrapped in elegance, an iron fist in a velvet glove.

Inspired by the last elephant to roam the Franschhoek Valley in the late 1800s, this wine stands as a tribute to resilience, heritage, and timeless craftsmanship.

Congratulations to Franschhoek Cellar's winemaker, Ryan Puttick, and our winemaking team for continuing to craft a wine that honours its legendary namesake.

A monument to grace

Our Franschhoek Cellar Statue de Femme Sauvignon Blanc 2024 has been awarded a gold medal at the Michelangelo International Wine and Spirits Awards.

Created as a tribute to the 250th anniversary of the French Huguenots’ arrival in the Cape, Statue de Femme embodies elegance, simplicity, and enduring heritage. This wine reflects the timeless French influences that shaped Franschhoek, expressed with poise and refinement in every glass.

Congratulations to our winemaking team for crafting a Sauvignon Blanc that so beautifully honours this legacy and now shines with international recognition.

A legacy carved in stone

We are proud to announce that our Churchyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 has been awarded a gold medal.

Just as the engraved tombstones have stood the test of time, this Cabernet Sauvignon is a symbol of longevity, structure, and quiet strength.

Congratulations to our winemaking team for crafting a wine that honours Franschhoek’s history while earning recognition.

Heritage in design, strength in wine

Echoing the endurance of Franschhoek’s original station building, our Baker Station Shiraz 2023 has been honoured with a gold medal at the Michelangelo Awards.

Like the timeless Cape Dutch revival architecture shaped under the influence of Sir Herbert Baker, this Shiraz carries both fortitude and character, its structure and depth a tribute to craftsmanship that withstands the passing of time.

A heartfelt congratulations to our winemaking team for crafting a wine that mirrors the heritage of Franschhoek while shining on the international stage.
