Muratie
As the ancient oaks slowly start showing their soft green leaves, Muratie shares its latest news and events.

The ancient oak trees on Muratie Wine Estate are slowly starting to show their soft green leaves, and soon the vines will follow with bud break. Spring is here, and there is an undeniable positive energy in the air. It is also Heritage Month, and this year we are celebrating 340 years of rich traditions and stories on our historic farm.

This September, Muratie Farm Kitchen is proud to be part of the Taste Stellenbosch Campaign, celebrating the region’s food and wine culture. As our special offering, guests can enjoy a complimentary starter and dessert with every main meal ordered, available Wednesdays to Fridays. Bookings are essential via Dineplan. Gather your friends and join us for a memorable dining experience in the heart of Stellenbosch.

September special offer

One of the colourful custodians who left an indelible mark on Muratie was George Paul Canitz, a renowned artist originally from Leipzig, Germany. Though he knew little of winemaking when he took over the farm, he was guided by his friend Abraham Perold, the pioneering professor of viticulture at Stellenbosch University, who helped modernise plantings and cellar techniques.

Muratie went on to become the first wine estate in South Africa to cultivate Pinot Noir commercially.

Today, this proud milestone is honoured through the George Paul Canitz Pinot Noir – a fresh, lively wine with alluring red fruit and earthy notes. The perfect lighter-bodied red for spring, and as a special thank you to our readers, enjoy a 10% discount on this wine.

Gerald is one of our favourite performers, but this show promises to be extra special as he will be joined by the winners of the Czech Republic Blues Challenge, part of the prestigious European Blues Challenge. This will add a fresh edge to Gerald's soulful originals alongside timeless blues standards.
