Launch of our new book: 'Meerlust: Beyond the Rubicon' by Emile Joubert
A new book has been published by well respected South African publishers, Jonathan Ball. Entitled Meerlust: Beyond the Rubicon, the book delves deeper than the acclaim of a single blend. It is a celebration of the timeless bond between land, time, and artistry. Discover the tale of Meerlust, where time, terroir and tradition converge to craft wines that honour both the legacy of the past and the promise of the future. It includes five recipes from five of South Africa’s top chefs, paired with a signature Meerlust wine.
Written by Emile Joubert, who is a distinguished communication specialist renowned for his work as a specialist South African wine writer, as well as a published fiction author.
This book will be available to purchase from good book stores in South Africa, as well as the Meerlust online shop at R495 incl. VAT.
Tim Atkin 2025 results
British Master of Wine, Tim Akin, released his 13th South African report on Tuesday, 2 September 2025 to a room full of enthusiastic wine lovers and industry professionals.
Rubicon 2022 has once again been included in the list of Best South African Red Blends, and was awarded 96 points.

Wine tasting at Meerlust Estate
Our tasting room is open to receive visitors from Monday to Friday from 09h00 to 17h00, and on Saturdays and public holidays from 10h00 to 15h00.
- Standard Tasting (no booking required): We offer a tasting of our full range of wines, including the Rubicon, at R100 per person, which is refundable per person who purchase wine after their tasting.
- Seated VIP Tasting (booking required): Our VIP tasting will be presented by a wine specialist in our private seated tasting room. It includes our full range of current vintage wines, as we as an older vintage of Rubicon and one of our other Estate wines, these are served in Riedel varietal range glassware. A fee of R300 per person applies.
