Avontuur Estate is one such place – a 110-hectare tapestry of ancient granite, shale, and sandstone, perched on the Helderberg and cooled by Atlantic breezes. It’s here, where the elements meet with fateful rhythm, that our family has quietly pursued distinction for generations.
This year, we celebrate 201 years of Avontuur and 41 years of winemaking – and with it, the unveiling of our new wine labels and collections. Inspired by the land and crafted with reverence, this evolution honours the legacy of those who came before while charting a course forward.
Winemaker Dominique Modena introduces a new era of Avontuur wines through three distinctive collections. From The Taberer, our family reserve wine, comes a flagship Bordeaux Red blend crafted only in exceptional vintages. The Avontuur Collection offers a terroir-driven trio – The West Peak Cabernet Sauvignon, Stone Field Syrah, and Disa Gorge Chardonnay – each shaped by the ancient Helderberg slopes and carrying the signature minerality and elegance of our land. Finally, the Thoroughbred Collection captures the spirit and energy of the estate’s racing heritage.
