It's Women's Month in South Africa, and for us it is an opportunity to celebrate all the leading ladies who have left an indelible mark at Muratie Wine Estate throughout our 340-year history.
Like the original groundbreaker, Ansela van de Caab, who helped to establish the first crops on the farm. Lady Alice Sarah Stanford, who was instrumental in establishing a culture of hospitality and entertainment at Muratie. Alberta Annemarie Canitz, who was passionate about preserving the historical character of Muratie while helping to modernise viticulture and winemaking. Annatjie Melck, a champion of Cape heritage cooking and wine culture appreciation. Johanna Davids, flower arranger extraordinaire and constant source of wisdom.
We honour these and all the other remarkable women, past and present, who continue to inspire us.
