Jan Eksteen, chairman of Boland Cellar, stated that the company's future lies in an increasing focus on site-specific wines that cater to the needs of modern wine consumers in every way. This also means aligning business activities with specified market and consumer objectives.
“Our producers are the lifeblood of our company. With their support, as well as the undeniable expertise of our winemakers and viticultural teams, we are now able to confidently build on our presence in various existing markets under Ross Sleet's leadership.
Ross's experience of more than 20 years in the wine industry in various roles will lend weight to our current operations, especially in the prevailing challenging market conditions. Ross joins us at an important crossroads in our 84-year history, and as the board of directors, we are excited about what the future holds.”
Ross added, “I am delighted to accept this role, which naturally also brings a great responsibility. I plan to increase Boland Cellar's focus on creating and marketing wines from diverse terroirs that offer incredible variety and appeal to an eclectic client base. I will aim to align our producers, viticulturists, and winemakers with the needs of the global market, while we build our brand and take on the future with confidence – assured that we are equipped with the necessary winemaking heritage and resources to make a meaningful contribution to the South African wine landscape.”
