Tokara
Nestled on the Stellenbosch side of the Banghoek Valley, Tokara lies on the foothills of the majestic Simonsberg.

What sets Tokara apart is something you can’t always see – but you can certainly taste. It’s in the very ground beneath our feet. Nestled on the Stellenbosch side of the Banghoek Valley, Tokara lies on the foothills of the majestic Simonsberg, forming the watershed between two breathtaking valleys. This dramatic setting is not only our backdrop – it’s the very foundation of our unique terroir.

Sitting between 350 and 550 metres above sea level, our vineyards benefit from a rare combination of elevation, deep decomposed granite soils, and varied slopes – each element adding character to the wines we craft.

Our soils are rich in weathered sandstone and decomposed granite, a combination that lends structure, elegance and ageability to our wines. Over the years, we’ve identified and refined small parcels of excellence in our vineyards. These distinct blocks are harvested and vinified individually, and then meticulously blended by our winemakers to create the exceptional wines that Tokara is known for.

Because in the end, it all begins in the soil.
