Welcome to our new tasting room and restaurant, Klein Alto, situated in the heart of the Helderberg.
Over the past six months, we have been thoughtfully renovating and preparing Klein Alto to become the home away from home for Alto wines. This warm and inviting space will be our home for the next couple of years while our estate undergoes extensive renovations.
Klein Alto is situated about 100m up the road from Alto Estate on Bonte Rivier Vineyards. The tasting room and restaurant are situated in our beautifully restored historic cellar building with seating options in our Atrium or on our outside deck seating overlooking majestic views of the Helderberg Mountain.
Enjoy one of our wine tasting experiences including our biltong and wine pairing or our smoked cheese and wine pairing. Our restaurant offers a wholesome and inviting menu, each dish has been thoughtfully prepared using fresh, locally sourced ingredients and infused with an Italian flair.
With its charming setting, relaxed ambiance, award-winning Alto wines and authentic, heartfelt cuisine, Klein Alto promises a truly unforgettable experience.

Iconic new release: Alto Rouge 2023
The Alto Rouge 2023 is now available via our online shop.
Our Rouge is known for its drinkability and the fact that it can age for decades, the 2023 vintage is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot.
The nose shows evocative aromas of black plum, sour cherry and wisps of dried floral notes with undertones of smoked charcuterie, pine needle and graphite. The palate is polished with round, smooth tannins and flavours of crushed blackberry, purple fig and plum.
Awarded 92 points and named a "Best Buy" in the 2025 Prescient Signature Red Blend Report, our Alto Rouge 2023 is an essential addition to any wine collection.
