Pebbles Project AGM
The Pebbles Project's annual general meeting took place on 20 June 2025 at the Joostenberg Conference Centre in Stellenbosch.
Over 100 attendees enjoyed a cosy gathering where donors, partners and supporters were able to directly interact with the various programme managers and their respective teams to find our more about their programmes.
A presentation presented by management and trustees sharing an overview of the organisations 2024 highlights, struggles, financials and future plans.
Our sincerest thanks to everyone who braved the weather to come and spend the morning with us. We greatly appreciate it.

In the spotlight: Aimee Chadwick
Aimee Chadwick filled in for a Pebbles employee who was on maternity leave in September of 2010.
Working for Pebbles was her dream, so she decided she would work so hard, that they will have no choice but to offer her a full-time position at Pebbles once the maternity cover ended.
Fifteen years later, Aimee is still with the organisation and currently fills the position of Grabouw's area manager.
Aimee is the proud mother of two beautiful little ones, fulfilling her childhood dream of becoming a mother.
Aimee enjoys spending time with her family, the sounds of nature, stormy weather and no cellphone reception. She equally dislikes carrying lots of heavy grocery bags and bullies.
We are lucky to have Aimee as an integral part of the Pebbles team.
Pebbles Academy
We are proud to announce that the Pebbles Academy's daily learner attendance rate has grown to an impressive average of 96% - a true testament to the fun and nurturing environment created by Mr. Johan van Tonder (Principal) and his loving wife Mrs. Hantie van Tonder who joined the organisation in 2024.
During the last quarter, the Pebbles Academy established two new classrooms for the Grade R learners and a classroom dedicated to English learners in Grades 1 and 2. The Academy's dedicated cross-country team took part in several local school tournaments. Nine of the learners who took part proudly placed in the top three for their respective age groups. The Academy is hosting their very own cross-country tournament in the coming weeks and has invited all the schools in the surrounding area to participate.
The Grade 7 learners recently spent a fun morning at Bisque in Hermanus were they were taught the various techniques used to decorate pottery as part of their Art Programme training.
Youth Development Programme
The Pebbles Project internal social workers held psychosocial sessions with the young adults who attend the Stellenbosch Youth Development Centre with the preparation for upcoming work placements as a key focus.
A total of seventeen young adults have signed up for the internal Youth Development Programme (YDP) in Stellenbosch and we look forward to being on this journey with them. The Hemel-en-Aarde Youth Development Centre recently welcomed twenty-three new young adults and hosted a structured induction week that focused on orientation and programme expectations.
These young adults also attended a session on stress management, providing them with valuable tools for emotional well-being.
The Pebbles Health Clinic team conducted health and dental screenings on all of the young adults to ensure that any health needs are addressed.
