Tribute to Hennie Fredericks

We are deeply saddened by the passing of our stalwart colleague Hennie Fredericks last week.
Hennie, who recently retired, worked at Muratie for 30 years and knew every vine and every corner of the farm inside out. He was a true mentor of our team who led by example with dignity and compassion. Someone of few words, but when he spoke, everyone listened with reverence. A practical man of many talents, with a deep connection to nature. Hennie was not just part of the team, he was a big part of our story, and his influence remains deeply rooted in the land and spirit of Muratie.
We will miss him dearly, but will strive to keep his memory and positive legacy alive on the farm always. Our sincere condolences go out to his beloved family.
New wine release: Muratie The Story 2020

Muratie Wine Estate is celebrating 340 years of existence in 2025 and to commemorate this incredible milestone, a special wine was made to encapsulate all the fascinating stories of the farm since its founding in 1685.
The Story honours Laurens and Ansela's brave beginnings to the mercenary pioneer Martin Melck. Famous artist GP Canitz, his daughter Annemarie, and Amber the muse. Aristocratic Lady Alice Stanford to Barefoot Ben. The legendary Ronnie Melck, rainmaker Mr May, and many more iconic characters. This super-premium Cabernet Sauvignon-Cabernet Franc blend is made from small parcels of our best vineyards and new oak barrels and matured to perfection over 22 months. It is a true collector's item priced at R1 500 per bottle.
