Pebbles Project
As part of our #wineforgood month, we're sharing good news stories of Pebbles Project changing lives. Today we tell Lihle's story.

Pebbles Project is a non-profit organisation in Stellenbosch that enriches the lives of disadvantaged farm children and families through education. Operating throughout the Western Cape, they have changed the lives of many vulnerable people. One of these people is Lihle, a proud father in Stellenbosch. Read his story:

Lihle Magobiyane works at the tasting room on Villiera in Stellenbosch. When Lihle was appointed as tasting room assistant in 2017, he enrolled his son, Hlalumi, and his daughter, Lamlokhule, in the Pebbles Project early childhood development (ECD) centre on Villiera Wine Farm.

Lihle speaks highly of the Pebbles Project ECD centre. He says: "The Pebbles ECD centre has helped Hlalumi and Lamlokhule so much, especially with their numeracy and language skills."

Lihle is thrilled that the Pebbles Project ECD practitioner had such a positive impact on Hlalumi and Lamlokhule. He says: "Even when it comes to hygiene, cleanliness and discipline - they both still remember what they were taught by their practitioner. They formed such a strong bond with her. The impact she had on them was so positive."

Hlalumi and Lamlokhule currently attend Eagle's Nest Christian School in Wallace Dene where they are both thriving. Lihle says: "They have been in the top 10 of their grade ever since they started school. It really says a lot about the standard of the Pebbles ECD Programme."

Furthermore, Lihle says that Pebbles Project instilled confidence in Hlalumi and Lamlokhule. He says: "I love seeing how confident they are. The things that they were taught at the ECD centre, have given them a head start and a strong foundation on which they can build."

Lihle is grateful for the work of Pebbles Project. He says: "If it was possible, I would take every child that I know to the Pebbles ECD centre, because what they teach there is really beautiful."
