During the last 12 months, South Africa has been one of the best performing nations in the UK on-premise. Wine On-Premise UK 2025 is the best research available as to what is on wine lists in the UK.

According to new research just released by Wine Business Solutions, listings of South African wine on UK wine lists are up 4% year on year and the average price of a bottle of South African wine is now 9% more than it was a year ago.

Price rises for all wines were only up 1% vs a year ago following a period of significant price inflation post COVID.

“Best of all, according to WBS Principal, Peter McAtamney, SA prices are now £7.50 per bottle clear of the average Chilean wine sold by the bottle in UK restaurants and other On-Premise outlets, meaning a sizeable gap between South Africa and the bottom of the market.

This is because of the shift away from listing wines designated ‘Western Cape’ and more premium South African wines being listed under regional designations such as ‘Stellenbosch’ and ‘Swartland’.”

Wine On-Premise UK 2025 is the best guide available as to:

  • Who the best, importers, distributors and brand managers are in the UK.
  • The performance of brands, regions and countries in this market.
  • Pricing by-the-bottle and by-the-glass.
  • How to succeed in this, one of the most important markets for South African wine.
