In the vineyards, the Simonsig team is wrapping up pruning after a late start to winter, while bud burst is just beginning with our Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Chenin Blanc vines. We're hoping for clear skies over the Braai Day weekend to avoid a repeat of last year's storm. In the cellar, we’ve begun blending our 2024 reds and are preparing to take our 2023 reds out of the barrel. The team is also busy gearing up for the festive season, ensuring our Kaapse Vonkel is ready to add some sparkle to your celebrations!
Cap Classique Affair: “Under the African Sun”

Usher in the festive spirit with the finest Cap Classique from South Africa’s top producers, delicious food and live music by the eclectic Congo Cowboys on Saturday, 2 November 2024.
This year’s theme is “Under the African Sun” so embrace the vibrant colours, bold patterns, and diverse cultures of our continent.
Tickets cost R695 pp and include:
- Tastings and a bountiful, locally inspired picnic box

A taste of our winemaking heritage
On 24 September, we will have tasty boerewors rolls available to purchase at the Tasting Room to complement your Heritage Day wine outing.
We also have a Heritage Tasting available until the end of the month that includes a hand-picked selection of wines that reflect the rich roots of our winemaking heritage.
The tasting costs R110 pp and features:

Braai Day with Labyrinth
The newly released 2021 vintage of Labyrinth Cabernet Sauvignon debuted in a striking new packaging that pays homage to the vineyard’s namesake, embodying both its intricate nature and the meticulous craftsmanship behind it.
The Labyrinth Cabernet Sauvignon is a special wine for 3rd generation cellarmaster Michael Malan as the labyrinth-shaped vineyard is right outside his house on the farm. He often sits on his stoep on summer days watching visitors venture into the labyrinth with a full glass, only to emerge with an empty one. "The experience of navigating the labyrinth mirrors the wine itself: deceptively complex and richly rewarding," he says.
In honour of Heritage Day this month, Michael’s Braai Day pairing suggestion: "Enjoy it with a deliciously juicy picanha steak!"
