As the crisp South African Winter air settles, a hidden treasure awakens beneath the soil at Anthonij Rupert Wyne Estate.

It's our favourite time of the year!

As the crisp South African winter air settles, a hidden treasure awakens beneath the soil.

Renowned the world over as "black gold", the culinary delicacy of fresh truffles is often a hot topic for conversation – not only for their fetching price and scarcity, but mostly for the captivating way in which they add unmistakable dimension to a dining experience.

Anthonij Rupert Wyne proudly stands as the first wine estate in South Africa to both cultivate and produce black Périgord truffles. These exceptional quality truffles are nurtured at their Altima Estate, benefiting from the region's ideal cool climate conditions for cultivating these rare delicacies. In September 2010, oak tree roots were inoculated with truffle spores to initiate growth.

In these specially cultivated oak forests, truffle hunter or "trufelau" Hanene van Dyk – who studied her craft in Piedmont, Italy – works closely with her specially-trained Lagotto Romagnolo dogs to unearth perfectly ripe truffles in the soil surrounding the oak roots.

Anthonij Rupert Wyne invites you to celebrate truffle season with our exclusive Truffle Lunch and Dinner. Reserve your place at the table for an unforgettable culinary treat!
